Brief update on Sheldon Jeter after concussion news

Pitt forward Sheldon Jeter missed the team's game against Florida State as he was placed into Pitt's concussion protocol. The Panthers won the machup and after the game, head coach Jamie Dixon updated the media on Jeter's status.

Per Paul Zeise of the Post-Gazette, it sounds as if the injury was sustained in practice. The good news? It sounds like he's feeling better and might not miss any more time:

The Panthers played without Sheldon Jeter (concussion) and Dixon said he is in the "concussion protocol program" and then remarked Pitt is "tops in the country and the originators" in concussion research. He said Jeter feels fine, felt much better today – he apparently got hit in practice – and he expects him to be back up and on the court soon, likely by the Clemson game.

That's great news, particularly because the Panthers' offense has been in a bit of a free fall lately. Jeter is the most potent guy off the bench and capable of giving Pitt the spark it sometimes needs. Plus, it's not as if the Panthers' next opponent is an easy one. Pitt will travel to Clemson, who owns wins over ranked Duke, Louisville, and Miami teams.

Jeter's health is certainly the important thing here, so he should stay out as long as he needs. Safe to say, though, the Panthers will be fortunate if they can get him back into the lineup for that game.
