Open up this week's AP Top 25 and count the SEC logos. You'll get to ten. Texas is No. 1, Georgia is No. 2, and after that it's Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri. That's ten of the league's 16 teams, or more than 60 percent of the conference, ranked in the top 25 at the end of September.

Hokies pick up 21-14 win at Boston College

It was a defensive battle in Chestnut Hill as the Virginia Tech Hokies visited the Boston College Eagles and left with a 21-14 victory. Weather dictated a good bit of the play as a Nor'easter storm hammered the East Coast. The Hokies trailed 14-6 in the 4th quarter before Ethan Grunkemeyer connected with Marlion Jackson for a touchdown and a Jeffrey Overton Jr. two-point conversion tied the game. One possession later, Jeffrey Overton Jr. motored 76 yards for a touchdown to break the tie. Grunkemeyer finished the game with 147 yards on 22-35 passing, and Overton Jr. racked up 190 yards on 24 carries. Mason McKenzie ran the ball 26 times for 138 yards with 2 touchdowns in a gutsy losing effort.
