Virginia Tech's Ben Hammond lost his footing while driving to the basket for the game-winner, and the shot bounced off the rim. Miami got an edge over Virginia Tech by converting 13 offensive rebounds into 19 second-chance points. Donaldson finished the game with a career high 32 points on 13-24 shooting. Dante Allen was the only other Hurricane in double-figures with 10 points, to go with five rebounds. Amani Hansberry led the Hokies with 16 points and five rebounds.
