Virginia's tournament hopes got some bad news on Tuesday.
After a 31-2 season that featured an ACC Regular Season title and an ACC Tournament Title for the Virginia Cavaliers, this was supposed to be the season. That hope may have taken a big setback on Tuesday.
Just 3 days before Virginia opens the tournament on Friday, Virginia announced that De'Andre Hunter will miss the rest of the season with a broken wrist. Hunter injured his wrist in the ACC Tournament Final. Hunter was the ACC's 6th man of the year and is scheduled to have surgery on Monday. His recovery time will be 10-12 weeks.
Hunter was Virginia's X Factor off the bench, capable of forcing matchup problems for opponents' bigs. Without Hunter, it will put more pressure on an offensive style that some still question is good enough to win it all.
