Tony Bennett has suspended Evan Nolte and London Perrantes for preseason scrimmages and their season opener against James Madison.  The two already missed last weekend's scrimmage against Marquette and will also miss their final scrimmage against Georgetown this weekend.

Perrantes, according to a press release, violated team rules over the summer.

Virginia will now be without two players for its first game. Last month, junior Evan Nolte, in the wake of getting arrested for public drunkenness over the summer, told The Daily Progress that he had been suspended for the JMU game.

As part of their punishment, both players also sat out last Saturday’s closed-door scrimmage against Marquette and will do the same Saturday when UVa plays at Georgetown.

Perrantes’ absence for the season opener is the more substantial of the two. Last season, the Los Angeles native was, arguably, the team’s most indispensable player en route to being named to the All-ACC Freshman Team. Perrantes was the steady presence at point guard that coach Tony Bennett had been looking for since his arrival in Charlottesville.
