UNC Football: Two Tar Heels recruits move up in latest rankings

Two UNC recruits climb the latest 247 Sports composite rankings.

University of North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Larry Fedora has to replace a lot of lost production on the offensive side of the ball.

Fedora is looking to rebuild the entire UNC offense with the departures of several big players to graduation and the NFL Draft.

But Fedora doesn’t have to do it right away. Instead, he needs to build with good recruiting classes at Carolina and he’s off to a nice start.

The Tar Heels 2017 class was a top 50 class and could be the first one to have a big impact on the program.

For 2018, Fedora and his staff already have double-digit recruits and landed a big one in wide receiver Jordyn Adams.

The Cary, North Carolina product elected to stay home and play for the Tar Heels back in July as a two-sport athlete despite receiving some offers from big SEC schools. He’s one of the Tar Heels best recruits in years.

Shortly after his commitment, Adams picked up a fifth star in 247 Sports’ rankings. Now, just a month later he’s moved up in the 247 Sports’ Composite rankings.

Adams moved up from player No. 90 to player No. 80 overall, jumping 10 spots in the latest set of rankings.

With a few sites updating their rankings, that means Adams has jumped in other rankings as well.

He’s not the only 2018 recruit to do so.

The Tar Heels have commitments from two quarterbacks in the class, Jace Ruder and Tyler Shough.

Ruder also jumped in the latest composite rankings.

The quarterback moved from No. 462 to No. 348 in the rankings. He’s currently listed as a three-star prospect and the No. 16 overall dual threat quarterback.

It’s possible both of these players could continue to climb the rankings before they step foot on campus at UNC.
