The Phoenix played the Hurricanes tough for most of the game, but the 'Canes were able to pull away late and get the 99-72 victory. In the second half, Miami shot 60.0% and outscored Elon 51-31. Freshman Shelton Henderson scored 16 of his career-high 18 points in the first half. Tru Washington had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Tre Donaldson finished with 18 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Elon's Chandler Cuthrell was averaging 24.5 points per game on the season but was held to just 13 against Miami.
