NC State was the only team in action last night and the Wolfpack won on the road thanks to a full length of the court pass and layup from CJ Leslie in the final seconds. The video isn't great, but here is the final play...
While St. Bonaventure most likely isn't an NCAA tournament team, they are a good team, definitely NIT worthy. This is a really good win for the Wolfpack, and says a lot about Mark Gottfried and his ability to motivate. After the Syracuse loss on Saturday night, this would have been an easy game to not get up for, but the Wolfpack took care of business.
Speaking of taking care of business, the Game Sim is finally tuned in. It always take a couple months to get enough data about teams before it can start making solid predictions. This is why I don't release it until January 1 for the new year. In this case, it's 67-62 NC State prediction was almost dead on.
Elsewhere in the ACC, Miami recently got Reggie Johnson back from an injury on Saturday and has learned they will have another player back on the court soon. Miami's DeQuan Jones has been declared eligible and can play immediately. Jones was declared ineligible due to ties to Nevin Shapiro and was prepared to sit the entire season.
Jones had been practicing with the team so he should be in shape and ready. Jones is one of the most athletic players in the ACC and should help at the small forward and big forward positions immediately. Suddenly, Miami has gotten deeper in the front court and the Hurricanes are a dangerous team in the ACC as conference play approaches. The Hurricanes play at Charlotte tomorrow night and Miami is efforting to get Jones to the game.
