The headliner: Philadelphia favored big over Dallas on Monday night

Monday Night Football, and the sims are not treating this like a coin flip. Dallas at Philadelphia: the GameSim projection has Philadelphia 23.5, Dallas 15.8, across 1,080 simulations. That is a 7.7-point home call in the NFC East, and it is the kind of number that says the model sees a gap, not a rivalry toss-up.
My take: Dallas always travels with belief, and the sims just declined to cooperate. Nearly eight points at home, against a Cowboys team that lives for this stage, is the model saying Philadelphia controls this game on both sides of the ball. If the Eagles cover a number like that in prime time, the conversation about the NFC East changes by Monday night.
The World Series shifts to Tampa, and the sims call it a coin flip
Game 3 of the World Series moves south, and this one is tight. Milwaukee at Tampa Bay: the GameSim projection has Milwaukee 3.8, Tampa Bay 3.5, across 100 simulations so far. That is a 0.3-run call, which is no call at all, just a nudge toward the Brewers in a game that could go either way.
My take: treat this number for what it is, an early-morning count before lineups lock, when the sims are still building. The direction favors Milwaukee by a hair, and nothing more. In a series this close, a one-run game in Tampa is the most honest expectation on the board, and the total is where the value conversation starts.
The NBA board: Boston and Milwaukee by blowout margins
Nine NBA games tonight, and the sims are loudest at the top of the card. Chicago at Boston: Boston 120.3, Chicago 101.6, an 18.7-point home call across 300 simulations. Indiana at Milwaukee: Milwaukee 121.7, Indiana 105.5, a 16.2-point home call. Phoenix at Oklahoma City: Oklahoma City 112.5, Phoenix 103.2, a 9.3-point home call. Minnesota at Cleveland: Minnesota 116.9, Cleveland 107.7, a 9.2-point road call.
My take: the Boston number is the statement of the night. Nearly 19 points is the model saying this is not a matchup, it is a mismatch. Milwaukee is right behind it. The Minnesota road call is the quieter one to watch, a nine-point win away from home is never casual, even early in the season.
The rest of the NBA card, plus two coin flips
Three more games carry clear leans. Atlanta at Houston: Houston 120.4, Atlanta 116.6. Memphis at Utah: Memphis 113.8, Utah 106.6. Golden State at Denver: Denver 113.3, Golden State 106.6. And the two truest toss-ups: Dallas at Miami, Miami 112.3, Dallas 110.1, a 2.2-point call, and Washington at Charlotte, Washington 107.2, Charlotte 103.3, a 3.9-point call. Those winner picks are lottery tickets. The value, as always, is in the totals and the player projections.
The report card: 6-for-12 on yesterday's featured NFL card
State it plainly first: yesterday's featured card went 6-for-12 on winners. The misses were real, and the biggest ones were loud. Cincinnati beat Baltimore 35-13 after the sims had Baltimore by nine. Tampa Bay beat Carolina 43-13 after the sims had Carolina by seven. Seattle beat Kansas City 20-3 after the sims had the Chiefs by four. The Giants beat Houston 27-21 after the sims had Houston by 9.5. Miami beat the Jets 28-25 after the sims had the Jets by nearly 15. And the coin flip flipped, Denver beat Arizona 30-16 after the sims had Arizona by just 1.4. Those six are on the model, no excuses.
Now the credit side, because the other half of the card held up. The headliner landed, Detroit beat Green Bay 20-17, and Green Bay's 17 points landed almost exactly on the projected 17.6. The Rams beat Las Vegas 35-21, the coin flip of the day landing on the right side. Pittsburgh beat New Orleans 16-10, Atlanta beat San Francisco 29-20, Cleveland beat Tennessee 27-24, and Minnesota beat Indianapolis 16-10. Six winners right, six wrong, and the closest calls broke both ways. That is an honest split Sunday, and the totals and player projections are where the value held up best.
GameSim line: Philadelphia handles Dallas at home, Milwaukee edges Tampa Bay in a one-run Game 3, and Boston rolls Chicago by a wide margin.
All scores above are MyGameSim projections from the simulations run so far, and none of the games today have been played yet. Yesterday the featured calls went 6-for-12 on winners, with the Detroit headliner right and the Baltimore shocker as the blemish. Run your own sims, check the totals and projected stats, and tell me where the model is wrong today.
