Trae Golden will transfer to Georgia Tech

Former Tennessee point guard Trae Golden will transfer to Georgia Tech according to reports.  Golden has filed a waiver because his father his "severely ill" which would make him immediately available for the Yellow Jackets.

“We are excited about Trae joining the Yellow Jacket family,"  Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory said. "Returning home to Atlanta, close to his family, to finish out his college career was extremely important to Trae. Also, the opportunity to earn his family's second Georgia Tech degree, his older sister graduated in 2008, was a key factor. "

Last season at Tennessee, Golden averaged 12.1 points and 3. 9 assists.

Golden departs from Tennessee amid several accusations including plagiarism and an improper relationship with the director of student affairs, Jenny Wright.

If Golden is available this fall, he will answer a big question for the Yellow Jackets at point guard after the departure of Mfon Udofia.
