The Chronicle exposes the "The next big Duke scandal"

When Rasheed Sulaimon was dismissed from the team everyone was shocked.  Rumors swirled around social media wondering if Sulaimon was a bad teammate, if grades were the issue, or perhaps something worse.  It seems that reality falls in the something worse category.

Duke's student newspaper, The Chronicle, is reporting that there are allegations of sexual assualt surrounding Sulaimon.

Separate allegations of sexual assault by Sulaimon came from two female students in the 2013-14 academic year. Both students voiced allegations publicly, but neither filed a complaint through the Office of Student Conduct or took legal action through the Durham Police Department. The students declined to discuss their allegations with The Chronicle.

The story doesn't stop there though, as the article suggests that Duke officials (administrators and coaching staff) knew of these allegations since March 2014.  Despite this, Sulaimon was a member of the team until January of this year.

Duke did issue a statement through Michael Schoenfeld, vice president for public affairs and government relations.

"Duke takes immediate action when a student reports allegations of sexual misconduct or other violations of the student conduct code," the statement read. "This includes investigation and referral to the Student Conduct Office as appropriate. The University is prohibited by federal law from disclosing information about any individual student or the student judicial process."

Not sure anything more will come of this quite honestly.  The school can hide behind their statement above, and the two victims are not coming forward for fear of backlash from fans.
