The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 9.
How does Louisville follow up its win over Miami this week?
Louisville was outstanding in their win over Miami on both sides of the ball, and announced themselves as ACC and playoff contenders. They are set for the rest of the season, right? Well, remember last year when they boatraced an actual good Clemson team at Clemson, then off a BYE week, they lost to a bad Stanford team. Do we think this year will be different? I think so. Louisville will learn from that loss, and with a terrible Boston College team coming to Louisville for a night game, Louisville is going to win Saturday and look impressive doing it.
Is Wake Forest a trap game for SMU?
SMU heads to 4-2 Wake Forest a prior to hosting Miami the week after. A win for SMU could set up a massive showdown with the Canes. Wake Forest has won their last 2 games, and if you ask Wake Forest fans, they won their last 3 if you know what I mean. This is a dangerous team that could catch SMU looking ahead. Clemson didn’t attack SMU as often as they should have in their loss. Wake Forest won’t make that same mistake. The Deacs could very well throw a scare into SMU.
Did Miami get a wake-up call against Louisville, or are they in trouble?
Miami losing to Louisville wasn’t all that surprising. Louisville is a capable team, but what is extremely concerning is the play of QB Carson Beck. He looked lost, rattled, and a shell of the quarterback we’ve seen most of this year. This was the QB that got under the skin of UGA fans last year. This week the Miami hosts a feisty Stanford team. Miami really should be too talented for Stanford. We won’t know if Miami has really righted itself until they play SMU next week.
