The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 7.
Who takes a massive step towards the ACCCG Duke or Georgia Tech?
Both Duke and Georgia Tech are 3-0 in the ACC, and the winner of their matchup gets the inside track to facing very likely Miami in the ACCCG. Virginia and possibly SMU would remain the other contenders. Duke is the -1.5 favorite in this one, comes off a BYE, and has won 3 games in a row. Georgia Tech is 6-0 and eyeing not just an ACCCG spot but a possible spot. Darien Mensah and Haynes King will be one of the best QB matchups you’ve seen all year. Who takes the step forward? Um… this is a pick’m game, but I love the winner’s chances going forward.
Could FSU really lose to Stanford?
FSU has won an ACC game in nearly 400 days. They’ve lost 10 of their last 11 ACC Games, and their lone win came 14-9 against Cal. I know what I saw against Alabama. That wasn’t a fluke. The Noles can play really good football. If Virginia is a top 20 team, and Miami is a national championship contender, then those losses can be forgiven. Pitt was not a good loss, especially at home. FSU doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt to say they can’t lose to Stanford, but I have to believe they will start to play to the level they are capable of.
Is Virginia ready for the stretch run, starting with Washington State?
The best thing that could have happened to Virginia was to watch Washington State go to Oxford, Mississippi, and nearly knock off Ole Miss. The Hoos are a 17 17-point favorite. I really like Virginia to start their stretch win a solid win over a dangerous Cougars team. I don’t think college football fans outside of those in the ACC realize how good this Virginia team is.
