What does Louisville need to do to beat Notre Dame?
I don’t think Louisville has the defensive depth to shut down Notre Dame in the way Duke did. That doesn’t mean they can’t pull off the stunner. Notre Dame is playing their third high-profile game in a row, and Louisville has the type of offense that can stress a defense. The Cardinals are at home, and in their biggest home game in years. The emotion of it all especially with a fast start gives the Cards a shot.
Is Clemson really back on track?
Clemson took a nice step forward against Syracuse this past weekend, but I’m not ready to say they are back on track. I’m not even ready to say they are on track if they beat Wake Forest on Saturday. If they beat the Deacs soundly, that would be another step in the right direction. What I want to see out of Clemson is to beat a top-25 caliber team. We won’t see that until October 21 when Clemson plays at Miami. Beat Miami and I’ll be sold that the Tigers have really put the early season slip-ups behind them. The encouraging sign for Clemson is that QB Cade Klubnik is coming along.
Is there any chance UNC or Miami lose at home?
UNC is at home and off BYE week Syracuse coming off a loss at the hands of Clemson. The Heels have blown 3 of their 4 opponents, and they’ve all been P5 opponents. I give Syracuse a slim shot at this upset. Their defense struggled and didn’t give a Clemson offense with fewer weapons many issues. Georgia Tech going to Miami after the debacle against Bowling Green? Yea, good luck with that. Even if the change in DC helps, Miami is far too good for a Jacket defense that is one of the worst in the country. Maybe Georgia Tech can get things into a shootout, but it sure feels like UNC and Miami are headed toward a top 20 matchup the week after.
