Tuesday ACC Kickoff got started, and actually, the biggest announcements were a couple of really good additions to the ACC Network from ESPNPR.com.
former Florida State head coach and 2013 national champion Jimbo Fisher has joined ACC Network as a studio analyst, bringing his championship pedigree and head coaching insights to the ACC Huddle desk. Three-time ACC champion and National Championship-winning head coach Jimbo Fisher has joined ACC Network and ESPN as a college football studio analyst. Fisher will appear weekly alongside ACC Huddle host Taylor Tannebaum and analysts Eric Mac Lain, the winningest player in Clemson history, and former Virginia Tech star receiver Eddie Royal.
Ok, I really like this. Jimbo Fisher has a fun personality that’s made for TV. He’s a quote-a-minute, and when he was in the ACC as Florida State head coach, he talked up and promoted the ACC as well as anyone. He has a championship pedigree and provides additional credibility for the ACCN.
That’s not the only move that caught my attention.
ACC Network will debut a new twice-weekly football studio show later this summer hosted by Florida State legend EJ Manuel and former Georgia Tech captain Roddy Jones. The one-hour ACC Network Football Podcast will air twice a week on ACCN (5 p.m.) with in-depth player and team breakdowns, interviews and more.
This should be good. EJ Manuel and Roddy Jones are two rising stars at ESPN, and giving them their own show is must-see TV. Manuel and Jones are two personalities who are often heard on the college football talking circuit with insightful comments and analysis. Manuel played at Florida State and Jones at Georgia Tech, so they know football and they know the ACC.
Those are two solid moves by the ACC Network, the ACC, and ESPN.
And lastly from that press report…
The full ACC Network weekly studio show lineup will be announced later this summer.
