Jeff Capel sees another player return.

Freshman center Terrell Brown announced that he will stay with Pitt after previously requesting his release from the program in March. He was one of nine Pitt players who sought to explore other options after former head coach Kevin Stallings was fired.

Brown revealed his decision in an Instagram post on Monday night, voicing his support for recently appointed head coach Jeff Capel and promising a big offseason for the Panthers.

The 6’10” center was one of the more promising elements of last season’s team, although he clearly has some work to do in terms of rebounding, scoring and developing consistency.

Perhaps the clearest illustration of his potential came in early February, when he put up 14 and 19 points against North Carolina and Clemson, respectively, rebounding well in the process. However, his outburst was short-lived, as he followed that up with a 0-for-7 shooting performance against Louisville and failed to replicate his success for the rest of the season.

All told, Brown averaged 4.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game last season.

With the announcement, Capel now has confirmation that four Pitt players who were once in question will remain with the team, as Jared Wilson-Frame, Shamiel Stevenson and Khameron Davis all previously issued similar statements. At this point, it remains unclear whether Marcus Carr, Kene Chukwuka, Malik Ellison or Ryan Luther will return to play for the new coach.
