Haynes King is starting to put together a season that defies comprehension. Georgia Tech’s defense is one of the worst defensive units in America, and getting worse. They came into the game with Boston College ranked 98th in the country, 99th in rush defense, and 85th in pass defense.
They gave up a whopping 537 yards to Boston College. There’s a good chance the Jacket’s defense will be in the 100s in the upcoming week. Down 28-17 in the 4th quarter, Georgia Tech’s dream season was about to come to an end, but maybe if the defense just could make a couple of stops, maybe QB Haynes King had a little more magic in him.
By the end of a 36-34 victory for Georgia Tech, I’m convinced Haynes King is a quarterbacking superhero masquerading as a college student.
It is incomprehensible that Georgia Tech is 9-1 and one game away from the ACCCG. Without Haynes King, Georgia Tech is a 5-5, or 6-4 team at best.
Let’s go through this…
At 28-17, King leads Georgia Tech on a 56-yard drive to score a FG, 28-20
At 28-20, King guides Georgia Tech to 78 TD drive to make it 28-26
At 28-26, King has a 54-yard scoring drive to make it 33-28. Jordan Allen with a big assist with a 54-yard TD run.
Boston College comes back to take a 34-33 lead.
Haynes Kings takes Georgia Tech 69 yards for chip shot FG by Aiden Birr, and it’s 36-34.
Brent Key inexplicably calls a timeout with more than 10 seconds, and BC gets to midfield, but the game ends with a failed Hail Mary pass. Oh, if Boston College had scored it would have been one worst coaching blunders imaginable.
That said, Haynes King bails out Georgia Tech yet again. Georgia Tech is 5-0 in single digit games, and that only happens with a great quarterback.
If he’s not in NYC for the Heisman presentation, it would be a travesty.
