The Cardinal pulled out a 37-27 victory over the Rainbow Warriors in the season opener. Stanford led by 16 at the start of the fourth quarter, but Hawai'i scored 20 consecutive points to take a 4-point lead with 4:06 left. Quarterback Davis Warren marched the Cardinal right down the field, and running back Micah Ford plowed in for a 2-yard go-ahead touchdown with 1:41 left. Stanford locked up the victory when Zach Rowell stripped the Hawai'i quarterback, and Tevarua Tafiti ran the ball back for a 31-yard touchdown. Warren finished the game with a career-high 310 yards on 22-34 passing and a touchdown. Ford ran the ball 25 times for 99 yards and three touchdowns. Hawaii quarterback Micah Alejado was 30-50 for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
