ACCFootballRx has a look at the ACC's history of participating in major bowl games. It's an interesting table, despite the lack of much of a Pitt presence on it.

Pitt's last major bowl game was the 2005 Fiesta Bowl, obviously. That didn't go all that well with Pitt being shellacked by an undefeated Utah team, 35-7. Before that, you need to go back to the 1970s and 1980s for the Panthers' other major bowl game appearances. Pitt is on the list as a current member, even though they didn't join the ACC until a few years ago.

If you're looking for a bit of quick historical perspective on which ACC teams were dominant, this is it.
