Game Recap

When Boston College played Florida State on Friday, one team (Boston College) played with pride, urgency, and a purpose. The other team Florida State played like the year was already over, and appeared to pack it in for the 2017 season.

Let’s start with Florida State. Every coach and player on this year’s Florida State team should be embarrassed by the 35-3 loss. What was on display Friday night was not Florida State football – that was a football season that just went up in flames. The Noles couldn’t block, they couldn’t tackle, they couldn’t run or pass. FSU couldn’t do anything right. For Jimbo Fisher – who has been so good for Florida State, this is a low point in his tenure.  There’s no way this is a talent issue. 4 and 5 star players dot the FSU roster, but Jimbo Fisher and the coaching staff lost his team. It’s as simple as that. What more can you say about FSU at this point? It’s just a bad football team.

Boston College on the other hand, is playing some of the best football in the ACC. They won at Louisville, they blew out a hot Virginia team, then steam-rolled Florida State. They physically manhandled the Seminoles on both lines of scrimmage. AJ Dillon ran for 149 yards, and the defense without their best player Harold Landry, held FSU to under 200 yards. Florida State is a dumpster fire this year, but it’s still meaningful to beat them as Boston College did. Head coach Steve Addazio has turned the  Eagles into a dangerous team, and they have shot to finish the season the 8-4. They have NC State at home, and road games at UCONN and Syracuse.

Remember when BC took Clemson and Notre Dame late into the 3rd qtr before those games got away from them? We’re seeing that BC team finish games off, and they have become a tough out. It was a special night at BC as they got the big win and honored 9/11 hero Welles Crowther.
