Well, here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2022 season.

As usual, we hope you enjoy the rankings.

Previous and Upcoming Rankings

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Offensive Linemen | Tight Ends |
Defensive Linemen | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams

1) Josh Downs, North Carolina

Josh Downs just might be the most electric player returning to the ACC in 2022. He’s coming off a year where caught a whopping 101 passes for 1335 yards. Mock drafts have him going into the 1st or 2nd round of next year’s NFL Draft.

He was a first-team All-ACC player and was a semi-finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. He might just win it this year even without stud QB Sam Howell throwing it to him. There aren’t five better receivers in the country,

2) A.T. Perry, Wake Forest

Sam Hartman is back at QB, and A.T. Perry is back at wide receiver. The Deacs offense in 2022 is going to cause as many problems for defenses as it did in 2021.

A.T. Perry is coming off a season that saw him have nearly 1300 yards receiving with 15 TD and a better yards per catch than Jordan Addison or Josh Downs at 18.2 yards. At an imposing 6-5, Perry is a nightmare for defensive backs.

3) Dontayvion Wicks, Virginia

Which ACC team has the best receiving core for 2022? Virginia makes an excellent case that it is them starting with WR Dontayvion Wicks. Wicks had a league-leading yard per catch last season at 21.1 yards. That’s how you accumulate 1,203 on just 57 catches.

On a list of excellent receivers, Wicks’s hands are among the best of the group.  He’s projected to be a Top 4 Round NFL pick.

4) Zay Flowers, Boston College

Boston College has some serious offensive talent. We’ve already seen BC have an ACC top 5 QB in Phil Jurkovec, an ACC top 5 RB in Pat Garwo III, and now a top 5 WR in Zay Flowers.

Zay Flowers averaged 17.0 yards per catch with 44 receptions for 746 yards. This is in a year where Jurkovec missed several games. Flower has quickness and great hands, and he’s loyal to Boston College if you know what I mean.

5) Keytaon Thompson, Virginia

Keytaon Thompson is Virginia’s second entry on this list. If we went a couple more, we may find another Virginia receiver Billy Kemp Jr. Yes you better believe the Hoos are loaded at the receiver position.

Thompson had 77 catches for 973 yards in a year that saw him make a number 2nd and 3rd team All-ACC teams. At 6-4, he has good size and is just another one of those Virginia receivers you better watch out for.
