We continue our series with the top Safeties in ACC Football.

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers Offensive Linemen |
Tight Ends | Defensive Linemen | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Special Teams

1) Jaquan Johnson, Miami

The Miami Hurricanes have an All-American in Safety Jaquan Johnson. Last year he had 96 tackles to go along with 4 interceptions. He was named ACC defensive back 3 times in 2017. Johnson is under 6 feet tall, but that doesn’t stop him from one of the country’s best safeties. Some NFL draft projections have him going as high as the 2nd round.

2) Lukas Denis, Boston College

Anyone else noticing Boston College is putting more players on this list that year’s past? Lukas Denis is another one for the Eagles. He’s a top-flight safety that is  appearing on a number of pre-season All-America teams. In 2017 he was tied second nationally with 7 interceptions. He’s a similar player in size to Johnson, and is also projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

3) Juan Thornhill, Virginia

Juan Thornhill of Virginia was 3rd Team All-ACC selection in 2017. He had 53 tackles and 4 interceptions last season. Cavalier fans are happy Thornhill decided to return to Virginia for his senior season. He definitely has NFL talent.

4) Reggie Floyd, Virginia Tech

Bud Foster has had to deal with all kinds of off-season attrition on his defense, but he’s got a rock solid safety Reggie Floyd coming back. He had a 72 tackle 3 interception season in 2017.

5) Brenton Nelson, Virginia

Brenton Nelson might be the best young safety in the ACC. Last year he was named ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. The former walk-on had 58 tackles and 4 interception in an excellent RS Freshman year.
