Well, here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2022 season.

Check out the latest edition of Lindy’s College Football preview where @TalkinACCSports (myself) and @Hokiesmash_ASD player helped the Lindy’s All-ACC team with @mattzemek.

As usual, we hope you enjoy the rankings.

Previous and Upcoming Rankings

Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen | Tight Ends |
Defensive Linemen | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams

1) Sam Hartman, Wake Forest

This is the ACC’s best QB class since the famed 2016 group. Now I’m not sure the top-end talent matches 2016, but the 2022 ACC qbs might be a deeper bunch starting with Wake Forest’s Sam Hartman.

Hartman is coming off a year that saw him throw for 4200 yards while leading Wake Forest to an 11-win season and top 15 National Offense. He threw a whopping 39 TD passes second only to former Pitt QB Kenny Pickett. There is some debate whether Hartman is the best pro-prospect in the ACC at QB, but Hartman is as good as any in the ACC leading an offense. He should leave Wake Forest as their all-time leading passer.

2) Brennan Armstrong, Virginia

There were times last year that Brennan Armstrong looked like the best offensive player in the ACC. In just 11 games Armstrong threw for a league-leading 4,449 yards. I’m not sure Armstrong puts up that kind of video game numbers in 2022 as new coach Tony Elliot will look for more offensive balance. With the talented receivers at UVa though, I still expect a huge season from Armstrong.

The Hoos were the #2 passing offense in the country last year led by the experienced and accurate Armstrong.

3) Devin Leary, NC State

Did you see Devin Leary light it up in NC State’s Spring Game? Expect more of that in 2022 from Leary. He has the highest returning completion percentage of any QB in the ACC. The 7-1 TD to interception ratio is pretty impressive as well.

Leary flew under the radar the last couple of years, but no more. He’s one of the best QBs in the ACC and the country. Early mock drafts have him in the 1st or 2nd round NFL. NC State has consistently been putting QBs in the NFL for 20 years, and Leary appears to be the next in line.

4) Tyler Van Dyke, Miami

Tyler Van Dyke may turn out to be the best pro prospect on this list. Multiple mock drafts have him going in the 1st round of next year’s NFL Draft.

In just 10 games, he had 25 TD passes, and nearly 3000 yards passing. His pass efficiency rating of 160.1 is the best returning of any ACC passer. At 6-4, 225 lbs he possesses the size NFL scouts covet. Van Dyke doesn’t quite have the experience of the first 3 QBs here, but by the end of the year, he could very be at the top of this list.

5) Phil Jurkovec, Boston College

Phil Jurkovec is the only quarterback that was on last year’s top 5 ACC QB list and on this year’s top 5 ACC QB list.

Boston College is a different team when he is healthy, and he’s a top 2-round NFL pick talent-wise. Jurkovec’s issue isn’t talent, he just has to stay on the field. He’s 6-5, 215 lbs, and has drawn comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger. He has one of the best receivers in the ACC in Zay Flowers, and the QB-WR combination will be one of the ACC’s most potent.
