1) Terrance Smith, Florida State
Terrance Smith is set to have a huge senior season at Florida State. Last year the 6’4″ 231 lb linebacker had 87 tackles despite missing two games. He was a 2nd All-ACC last season, and is expected to be one of the leaders of the Seminoles defense this year. A sprinter in high school, Smith has excellent speed for a LB, and has become more physical during his career. He is projected to be a 2nd -4th round NFL pick. Could an excellent senior season move him into the 1st round?
2) Keith Kelsey, Louisville
Louisville’s Keith Kelsey was a solid linebacker last year. This season I think he’s set to have a great junior 2015 year. Last year he had 87 tackles with 6 sacks. Along with James Burgess who just missed this list, the Cardinals have a pair of the best linebackers in the ACC.
3) Brandon Chubb, Wake Forest
Wake Forest’s Brandon Chubb has become an extremely productive linebacker for the Demon Deacons. He had 109 tackles last season, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks last year. Chubb’s is the cousin of Georgia’s RB Nick Chubb. Those are those great bloodlines in that family. Chubb is a strong run stopper, and will have a chance to make it at the next level.
4) Reggie Northrup, Florida State
Reggie Northrup injured his ACL against Oregon in the College Football Playoffs last year. If Northrup can return to his previous form, he will certainly be one of the best LBs in the ACC in 2015. Last season he had the most tackles by a Florida State Seminole in over a decade while finishing 3rd team All-ACC. He was a two-time ACC linebacker of the week in 2014 and has NFL caliber ability.
5) P.J. Davis Georgia Tech
P.J. Davis may be a bit undersized LB at 5’11″ 218 lbs, but that hasn’t stopped Davis from becoming one of the best LB’s in the ACC. Last season he had 119 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss. Not highly recruited out of HS, Davis plays with great instincts and an edge, that has made him one of Georgia Tech’s best defensive players.
