Let's rank the top 5 cornerbacks in the ACC for the 2016 season.

StewartPrevious and Upcoming Rankings

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen  | Tight Ends | Defensive Linemen | Linebackers  | Safeties | Special Teams

1) Cordrea Tankersley, Clemson

Cordrea Tankersley was a 3rd team All-ACC last year. With the departure of Mackensie Alexander, Tankersley will take on the role of shutdown corner for the Clemson Tigers. At 6-1, 195 Lbs, Tankersley has good size, and is projected as a 2nd or 3rd round pick. He had 4 interceptions last season.

2) Marquez White, Florida State

Marquez White is another in a long line of very good Florida State DBs. When he returned for his senior year, it was a major lift to the Florida State defense. I’ve seen some mock drafts with White as high as a late first rounder. White didn’t have huge stats – 25 tackles and 1 interception, because opposing QBs just wouldn’t throw his way.

3) M.J. Stewart, North Carolina

Remember when North Carolina had a defense that downright laughable a couple of years ago. Now they have some quality players on defense starting at cornerback. UNC M.J. Stewart is coming off a 2nd Team All-ACC season. He tied for the most passed defended in the ACC last year 18, and had 4 interceptions  to go along with 62 tackles. He’s one of the most physical corners in the ACC.

4) Des Lawrence, North Carolina

Des Lawrence and M.J. Stewart may give UNC the top pair of corners in the ACC. Lawrence was a 3rd team All-ACC selection in 2015. CBSSportsline has Lawrence among the top 15 senior corners in the country. He finished 3rd in the ACC in passed defended last year.

5) Trumaine Washington, Louisville

Trumaine Washington is Louisville’s top cover corner and he’s a good one. A bit undersized at 5-10, he led the Cardinals with 4 interceptions last season while being named honorable mention All-ACC last season. He also had 47 solo tackles in 2015.
