Pitt dismissed freshman point guard

Pitt freshman point guard, Justice Kithcart, has been dismissed from the basketball program today. In a press released, Head Coach Kevin Stallings released a statement.

“It is a privilege to play basketball at the University of Pittsburgh and with that privilege comes the responsibility to conduct oneself in the appropriate manner,” said Stallings. “Unfortunately, Justice has been unable to uphold that standard. We wish him the best of luck in the future.

Justice Kithcart has appeared in 29 of the team’s 30 games this season. He was averaging 13 minutes a game, with 1.3 points per game and 1.2 assists as well. In ACC play, Kithcart’s production was limited to just 11 points in 17 games, including a career-high 9 points against Boston College. In Pitt’s last six games, Kithcart has scored 0 points on 0-7 shooting.

Kithcart came to Pitt as a three-star point guard out of Episcopal Academy in Virginia. He led his team to a state championship last season, and chose the Panthers over offers from Clemson, Memphis, Providence, and TCU.

Pitt currently has six players committed for next year’s class, and with just five open spots. With Kithcart’s scholarship opening up, the team is now back at the scholarship limit.

Kithcart was expected to compete with incoming recruits, Marcus Carr and Aaron Thompson for minutes next season. He will be free to transfer and have three years of eligibility remaining in his college career.
