Pitt holds off Duke, 58-55

Pitt's offense exploded for 58 points and about 600 total yards - that was the good. The bad was the defense and special teams. The D gave up far too many points to Duke and there were special teams breakdowns everywhere including allowing a punt return TD, a blocked field goal, a missed extra point, and Pitt also nearly had a punt blocked.

The defense wasn't all bad as evidenced by their four interceptions, but allowing Duke's offense to go off like they did today is pretty inexcusable. There will be plenty of discussion about defensive coordinator Matt House and while he's only been in the job for three games, there should be.

On offense, it was again another big game for Tyler Boyd. But the guy that really played well in my opinion was quarterback Tom Savage. Savage threw for 424 passing yards, six touchdowns, and NO interceptions. It had to be the best game of his career and the encouraging thing was just how well the unit clicked. Boyd had 147 yards and, oh yeah, Devin Street played a big game as well, with 166 yards. The duo combined for five touchdowns, so there's that.

Can't leave out James Conner, who was the feature back with a whopping 173 yards and a touchdown.

I'll have a longer recap on the game a bit later.
