Most Improved Player & Sixth Man Award Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State’s Ian Miller has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 2014 Sixth Man Award winner, while North Carolina’s Marcus Paige has been tabbed as the league’s Most Improved Player.

Selections were made by the league’s 15 head coaches. Voting took place during the final week of the ACC regular season and was based on regular-season performance.

Florida State’s Miller was the league’s top scorer off the bench. On his way to winning the Sixth Man Award, the Charlotte, N.C., native averaged 13.3 points in a non-starting role. Miller also topped the charts for sixth men in assists (2.96), steals (0.87) and free throw percentage (.877).

The leading scorer for the Tar Heels this year, Paige followed up his 2013 ACC All-Freshman season with a solid 2014 that saw him average 17.1 points, 4.45 assists and 1.58 steals. In all, Paige ranked in the Top 10 in eight individual categories in the league, including scoring (sixth), assists (fourth), steals (fifth), free throw percentage (second) and 3-pointers made (third).
