Game Recap

Miami fell behind early against 23rd-ranking Texas 10-0. Then muffed a punt inside their 10 and the Aggies quickly scored to make it 17-7.

After that, Miami went on a 41 – 16 run. It was as dominant as it sounded. Miami looked faster, stronger, and just plain better than the perenially overrated Texas A&M Aggies.

What was so striking watching the Canes, especially on offense was how fast and aggressive they looked. When Miami was in their heyday their speed was virtually unmatched in college football. Saturday Miami seemed to time and time again just run by the Aggies – from kick returns to long passes. The Aggies were simply the slower team – so much for SEC speed.

On offense, Tyler Van Dyke looked like the QB that appeared to be the 1st NFL pick two years throwing for 374 yards and 5 Touchdowns. Miami’s offense just seemed to keep coming in waves like the old days, particularly through the air.

Now we all know that Jimbo Fisher is the most colossal waste of money in all of college football. The Aggies are one the biggest underachievers in the sport, but this is still a very significant for Miami. Mario Cristobol needed a win to point to progress being made in his program. We saw that today.

Miami is clearly not a finished product. Defensively they have a way to go, but they look like they can be a force in this year’s improved ACC.

Let’s also say a little prayer for Miami defender Kam Kinchens who appeared to suffer a serious injury near the end of Saturday’s game.
