Kamari Murphy played his first two seasons at Oklahoma State, but announced on Wednesday that he is transferring to Miami.  In Lebron James-esque fashion Murphy tweeted his choice.

“I Will be taking my talents to the University of Miami. … New Beginnings !” he Tweeted.

Murphy averaged 6.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game during his sophomore season.   Unless he's granted a waiver, he will have to sit next season.  At 6'8" and 220 pounds, Murphy will provide solid size for the Hurricanes when he becomes eligible.

As NBC Sports mentions, Jim Larranaga is making Miami a destination for transfers.

Miami head coach Jim Larranaga has scored with transfers in the past, most recently, his back court of Angel Rodriguez (Kansas State) and Sheldon McClellan (Texas), both of whom are eligible this upcoming season. South Florida hired Kentucky assistant Orlando Antigua on April 1. It didn’t take him long to land his first impact transfer in ex-Marshall point guard Kareem Canty.

It remains to be seen what oddsmakers like BestSportsBooks.co predict for the Canes next season, but the roster will look completely different than the team that finished 17-16 last season.  Gone are Rion Brown, Garrius Adams, Donnavan Kirk, and James Kelly (transfer) and in their place are Angel Rodriguez, Sheldon McClellan, redshirt freshman DeAndre Burnett, and a decent freshmen class.  The strength of the team will be in the backcourt, while the frontcourt will largely depend on the growth of Tonye Jekiri.
