21 - 18 The Golden Bears hung on to defeat the Tar Heels, 21-18. It looked like UNC was going to score a go-ahead touchdown with just under four minutes left in the game, but Cal's Brent "Paco" Austrin punched the ball out of Nathan Leacock's hands at the goal line, and the fumble was recovered by Cal in the end zone. Cal quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele completed 21 of 39 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown, plus he also had a rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Jacob De Jesus caught 13 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. Cal running back Kendrick Raphael ran the ball 22 times for 81 yards and a touchdown. For UNC, Gio Lopez completed 19 of 35 passes for 167 yards. Wide receiver Kobe Paysour caught six passes for 101 yards.
