The No. 16 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets rallied to force overtime, where they would outlast a tough Wake Forest Demon Deacons club. The Deacs led by 17 points in the 3rd quarter before Haynes King and the Tech offense rallied for the win. King finished the game with 349 total yards on 28-42 passing with 2 rushing scores and a touchdown pass in the win. Wake quarterback Robby Ashford battled hard and finished the game with 304 total yards, with a rushing touchdown, and had to overcome a knee injury that he suffered on a big run in the 2nd half. Georgia Tech scored on its first overtime possession, and after Demond Claiborne answered with a touchdown run on the Demon Deacons' first offensive play of overtime, the Deacs attempted to go for the two-point conversion. Ashford's pass was intercepted by Clayton Powell-Lee and the Jackets escaped Winston-Salem with the win.
