Tech's defense held Southern to 30 points below their season scoring average, as neither team was able to shoot higher than 40% from the floor. The Jackets held the Eagles to 34% shooting from the floor, outscored them 34-22 in the paint, and outrebounded them 46-37 for the game. Baye Ndongo and Mouhamed Sylla each finished with double-doubles, with Ndongo leading the way with 20 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.
