In the start of the season, Boston College learned that they would have one true scoring threat this season in sophomore Jerome Robinson. He is averaging over 20 points per game this season and becoming of the top players in the conference.
But could the Eagles be learning about a new scoring threat in a freshman from North Carolina.
Ky Bowman, a 6-foot-1, 182-pound guard form North Carolina is becoming a hot name on the scene for the Eagles and is slowly becoming one of the Eagles offensive threats, joining Robinson this season.
Bowman is coming off a 30 point performance, his second of the season, and a five rebounds, nine assists win against Syracuse on Sunday afternoon.
This season, Bowman has averaged just over 10 points per game, but in the last five, he has increased that number tremendously, averaging 21.2 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists as the Eagles have won four out of their last five. What has been so interesting with this young freshman is how he is producing his opportunities. Against Syracuse, Bowman went 7-for-8 from three; against Providence, he got it done inside the arc (7-for-8), against Fairfield, he attacked the basket going 13-for-21 overall; against Sacred heart he was able to get to the free throw line for much of his points, and against Auburn, he was able to do a combination of all, going 5-for-10 from the field, 3-for-5 from three, and 2-for-5 from the line.
Before the last five games, Bowman had three double-digit games in his first nine games; he also averaged only 16 minutes per game. But now it seems that head coach Jim Christian has seen what it Bowman can provide and all statistics have risen in the past five games. Most importantly, the Eagles are looking to be a competitive squad this season and not just a role over.
Bowman has been a part of that change this season.
