DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head coach David Cutcliffe announced on Wednesday the addition of four staff members and the promotion of another for the 2017 campaign.  Joining the Blue Devil program are graduate assistant coach Cory Beck, Football Operations assistants Justin Manning and Gerad Parker and Football Assistant Director of Information Technology Andy Parham.  In addition, Cutcliffe announced the promotion of Adam Barkley to the position of Football Director of Information Technology.

RailsPrior to joining the Duke staff as an offensive graduate assistant coach, Beck spent four seasons (2013-14-15-16) as an undergraduate assistant coach at Purdue University.  A native of Arcadia, Ind., Beck graduated from Purdue in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in liberal studies.

Manning joins the Duke staff as a Football Operations Assistant, working primarily with the defense, after spending the 2016 season as a cornerbacks coach at Tufts University, where he helped the Jumbos to a 7-1 record, the program’s best record since 1998.  A native of Raleigh, N.C., Manning graduated from N.C. Central in 2011 with a degree in business administration and was a four-year letterwinner (2008-09-10-11) as a fullback with the Eagles.  He earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from Fayetteville State University in 2014.

Working with the Blue Devil offense as a Football Operations Assistant, Parker joined the Duke staff after a stint as the running backs coach at the University of Cincinnati in the spring of 2017. He had spent the previous four seasons (2013-14-15-16) at Purdue University, including a term as interim head coach for the final six weeks of the 2016 campaign. A native of Louisa, Ky., Parker earned a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2003 and a master’s degree in education in 2005, both from Kentucky, where he was a four-year letterman on the gridiron for the Wildcats.  Parker is married to the former Kandi Brown of Olive Hill, Ky., and the couple has three daughters – Kolbi, Gwyneth and Rosalyn.

A Durham, N.C., native, Parham returned to his hometown after serving as the Director of Football Video at the University of South Alabama during the 2016 season. He is a 2013 graduate of East Carolina University with a communications degree and concentration in media productions.

Barkley had served as Duke’s Football Assistant Director of Information Technology since 2010.  A Midlothian, Va., native and 2009 graduate of the University of Virginia, Barkley replaces Tom Long, who departed the staff following nine seasons with the Blue Devils.
