Duke adds UCLA to an already tough 2013-14 schedule

Two of the most storied programs will get to face off in the most storied building in basketball.  Duke and UCLA will face off in the CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic being held in Madison Square Garden.  For Bruins’ fans, they don’t seem to be happy about this one. I can’t blame them.

MSG is called Cameron North for a reason. It’s a venue the Blue Devils rarely lose at and they don’t have to repay the favor by traveling out to California.

Anyhow, UCLA has a new coach in Steve Alford and there is some talent with players like Jordan Adams, Kyle Anderson and incoming 5-star point guard Zach Lavine.

However, it’s Tony Parker that most Duke fans want to see.

If you recall, Blue Devils’ fans followed the much-hyped Parker’s recruitment process for a long time. While he never listed a team as a favorite, many thought Duke was the leader (along with Georgia).

These same fans I’m sure ended up watching Parker’s sanctimonious 57-minute commitment ceremony, the one that saw him pick UCLA.

Anyhow, Parker had a awful rookie campaign at UCLA. He couldn’t stay healthy and played just six minutes per game, averaging 2.4 points and 1.2 rebounds.

I’m sure Parker is itching to show he’s back against a weak Duke middle and I’m sure plenty of Duke fans would love to show Parker he made the wrong decision.
