Let's take a look at Virginia Tech Football for the upcoming season.

Best / Worst Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | SMU | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Cal |  NC State | Clemson |  Syracuse | North Carolina | Stanford| Wake Forest

ACC 2025 Football Schedule

Virginia Tech

5,6,3,7,6 – Those are the win totals of Virginia Tech football over the last 5 years. That’s an average of 5.4 wins since 2019. Go back to 2017 and it’s 5.9. That’s how long Virginia Tech has been mired in mediocrity. Inside the Hokies fanbase there is always hope, but nationally, Virginia Tech is an afterthought. For a program that from the late 90s through the early 2010s was one the country’s premier programs, that seems unthinkable, but here we are. After a 5-3 start last year, the Hokies lost 4 of their last 5 games to go 6-7, and it’s put Heach Coach Brent Pry on the hotseat. Virginia Tech has to show improvement this year period, or he’s probably done.

Will Go 9-3 (6-2) if:

They get to the Georgia Tech game on October 11, 5-1 or 6-0. That may seem like a stretch, but is it? South Carolina would be an upset win, but say you steal that game, you get Vanderbilt at home, then Old Dominion and Wofford. A game at NC State is tricky, but then you host Wake Forest before going to Georgia Tech. QB Kryon Drones has shown flashes of being one of the best QBS in the ACC, but he has to stay healthy. If the new coordinators OC Phillip Montgomory, and DC Sam Siefkes can help list mediocre units, then the Hokies have a real chance to surprise.

Will Go 4-8 (2-6) if:

A 0-2 start derails the season before it starts. Virginia Tech may have the most difficult back-to-back opening games of any ACC team with South Carolina and Vanderbilt. If the Hokies aren’t competitive and play poorly, the schedule could end up being a real problem. Old Dominion has always given the Hokies fits, then you are playing on the road at NC State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and the rivalry game at Virginia. Louisville and Miami are also on the schedule. The offensive line is getting a complete personal overhaul, and this isn’t your Frank Beamer era talent on defense. The Hokies have a lot of question marks, and it wouldn’t take much to end up with a 4 or 5-win season.
