Let's take a look at Virginia Tech football.

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina | Wake Forest

ACC 2021 Football Schedule

Virginia Tech
Justin Fuente is in trouble and I’m sure he knows it. No ACC coach enters the 2021 season with more at stake. Justin Fuente wasn’t hired at Virginia Tech to have losing seasons in 2 of the 3 years, and not have a bowl win or top 25 finish in those 3 years either.  If Fuente wasn’t still beating Virginia (4-1), he might already be gone. The Hokies have enough talent to be a factor in the ACC Coastal, and for Fuente’s sake they better play like it.

Will Go 9-3 (5-3) if:
The Hokies start the season 3-0. An early upset win over UNC would be nice, but if the Hokies validate that with a should win over Middle Tennessee, and at West Virginia then watch out. That could really jump start the season. They would be 4-0 after beating Richmond, and getting Notre Dame at home. The defense has to be better than than the one that gave up nearly 450 yards per game. The second year for DC Justin Hamilton and the defense could see some strides. The Hokies have the ACC’s best TE in James Mitchell, and there’s talent at receiver. The offense has a chance to be a real headache for defenses.

Will Go 5-7 (2-6) if:
The defense isn’t much than last year. The Hokies play too many good offenses, that if the defense is again mediocre Virginia Tech is going to lose a lot of games. UNC will be a serious test, and Middle Tennessee and West Virginia are good enough to knock off the Hokies. Even a 1-2 start could spell disaster going forward with games still remaining in the season with Notre Dame, at Boston College, at Miami, and at Virginia. Only Richmond, Syracuse, and Duke are certain wins going into the season. QB Braxton Brumeister showed some good things last year, but he’s inexperienced. The offense doesn’t have a proven RB either. The defense may have it’s own issues, but the offense isn’t a sure thing either.
