Let's take a look at Virginia football.

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Virginia Tech | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina | Wake Forest

Virginia
Virginia was always going to be a multi-year rebuilding project for Bronco Mendenhall. Last year there were signs that the Cavaliers might be able to turn things around. A 5-1 start helped get the Hoos to their first bowl game since 2011. 2018 recruiting seems to going well too. Virginia fans can’t get discouraged this year if they don’t make a bowl. 2019 is the year they should be looking towards for a real change in record. Can they surprise this season?

Will Go 8-4 (4-4) if:
If Bryce Perkins is as good as advertised at QB. He’s comes in highly touted. If there was a bland offense in the ACC the last few years it’s been Virginia. The Hoos haven’t had many playmakers on offense for some time. Bryce Perkins is the dual-threat QB that can make plays with his feet. He has a chance to significantly improve an offense that finished 107 in the country last year.

The offensive line will have some new players and needs to come together quickly. The defense has some ability, and if it can carry the Virginia team early in the season, the Hoos can raise some eyebrows. Only games at NC State and Virginia Tech look like they are for sure beyond Virginia’s reach.

Will Go 4-8 (1-7) if:
If Bryce Perkins and the new offense don’t gel. Richmond, Ohio, and Liberty are probably wins – most of the rest look like toss-ups at best especially with a struggling offense. A 2-5 start is not out of the question with losses at Indiana, Louisville, at NC State Miami and at Duke.

Tough to see the Hoos recovering from that start. The defensive line will be young, and could have problems with teams at the line of scrimmage. I like their back 7 on defense, but the O and D Lines have question marks.
