Syracuse
Fran Brown’s first season at Syracuse could not have gone better. Syracuse went 10-3 won their bowl game, and finished in the top 25. Syracuse won their final 4 games, and I’m not so sure they weren’t one of the top 2 teams in the ACC by the end of the year. What can Fran Brown do for an encore? It’s hard to see another 10 win season, but I wouldn’t bet against Fran Brown after what Syracuse did last year. Brown can flat-out coach.
Will Go 8-4 (6-2) if:
If Fran Brown can work similar magic to last year. What Brown did last year was no fluke, and if he did it last year Syracuse can do it again. Yes the schedule is tougher, no question, but if they can squeeze an upset against Tennessee, Clemson or at SMU to be 4-2 at the mid-point of the season, then even with a finish that has Georgia Tech, Miami, and Notre Dame a 4-2 backend might be possible. Kyle McCord transferred in at QB and produced eye-popping numbers. If LSU transfer Rickie Collins can approach anything close to that, then Syracuse will still be a load this year.
Will Go 4-8 (2-6) if:
If that schedule for Syracuse is just too much to handle. Syracuse is playing Tennessee, at Clemson, at SMU, at Georgia Tech, at Miami, and at Notre Dame. Syracuse could be a solid team and still go 0-6 against that group of teams. Duke, Pitt, North Carolina, and Boston College are no gimmes either. Syracuse has so much production to replace on both sides of the ball, and depth may be an issue. I would consider getting to a bowl game a good goal.
