We continue our series with Syracuse Football.

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Clemson | Florida State | Pittsburgh | NC State | Boston College | Virginia Tech | North Carolina | Wake Forest

Dino Babers had a major rebuilding job at Syracuse, and trying to turn things around in one of country’s toughest divisions was going to be a tall order. Babers showed enough in year one, that there is hope in Syracuse land. Last year the Orange went 4-8, but beat Virginia Tech and scored 61 points in a loss to Pitt. They stood 4-4 before losing their final 4 games. A bowl game in year 2 would be a huge step forward.

Will Go 6-6 (3-5) if:
Syracuse can win all the winnable games on their schedule. Syracuse is probably a couple of years away from competing with the Clemsons, Florida States, and Louisvilles of the ACC Atlantic so they better beat most everyone else. Central Connecticut, Middle Tennessee, and Central Michigan open the year and the Orange can beat them all before a game at LSU. Wake Forest and Boston College are at home and winnable. Syracuse will have to steal one more game along the way, but if they win the 5 winnable games a bowl game is possible.

The offense should be fine with Eric Dungey leading the way at QB. The defense was terrible last year, and must be better for that bowl game goal to be reached.

Will Go 4-8 (1-7) if:
Syracuse can’t handle the schedule. Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, and Miami  are all top 20 teams that the Cuse face this year. That means Syracuse has to go 6-1 in their remaining games to just finish 6-6. Throw in a game at NC State, and where will the wins come from? There is no margin for error for Syracuse, and if the defense ranks in the 120s again the Cuse will have trouble finding wins. The schedule is just brutal.
