Let's take a look at UNC Football.

Best / Worst Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Virginia Tech | NC State |  Clemson | Syracuse | Wake Forest

ACC 2023 Football Schedule

North Carolina

Mack Brown now enters his fifth season at UNC. The results have been uneven. The Heels at times have looked on the cusp of breaking into the big time. At others, it looks like they are in over their heads. They do have an NFL Caliber QB in Drake Maye. Is this the year UNC fulfills some of the promises they’ve shown at times or will it be more falling short of of expectations?

Will Go 10-2 (6-2) if:

They can beat South Carolina in week 1, and play a little defense. UNC comes into the game on a 4 game losing streak, but win that opening game and it could be off to the races. South Carolina is a prime-time Gameday event, and the nation will be watching. Even if the Heels win though, to have the kind of season they are capable of having the defense needs to be more consistent. 9 times last year the  Tar Heels gave up 28 or more points. If they can cut 3 or 4 of those games off that list, their offense should be able to do the rest with Maye running things.

Will Go 6-6 (4-4) if:

North Carolina becomes a one-man show. Drake Maye is an amazing quarterback, but if the Heels completely rely on Maye they won’t make it through their schedule. South Carolina is a tricky opener, App State nearly beat UNC last year, Minnesota is no gimme, and a game at Pittsburgh is really tough. UNC could easily start the year 1-3. They finish with road games at Clemson and NC State, add another loss anywhere along the way and the Heels are fighting for a bowl game. The defense couldn’t put pressure on opposing QBs last year, and if that happens again it could be longer than expected season in Chapel Hill.
