Let's take a look at Miami football.

ACC 2022 Football Schedule

Miami
The U is back! It’s the yearly refrain it seems from the college football media. There is something going on that’s different in 2022 for the Canes. Miami seems truly committed to rejoining the nation’s elite football programs. They targeted Oregon head coach and former Miami player Mario Christobal and got him. They are utilizing NIL as well as anyone in the ACC and they are putting together a top 15 class, and they just might have the conference’s best pro prospect at QB in Tyler Van Dyke. Miami isn’t a finished product, but 2022 could be the foundational year to their ascension as a program.

Will Go 10-2 (6-2) if:
The defense tackles better, and the receivers step up. Miami was good enough last year to beat top 25 teams NC State and Pittsburgh, but they were physically beaten up in games against Alabama and Michigan State and collapsed against Florida State among their 5 losses last year. A lot of the Cane’s issues could be tied to a defense that was one of the worst tackling units seen in a while. They have new DC Kevin Steele to make improvements there. With WR Charleston Rambo gone, the Canes will need a new go-to receiver for Van Dyke. The schedule has two tough road games, Texas A&M and Clemson, but otherwise, the Canes should be favored or even odds in the rest of their games. If they can pull off the upset at College Station they could be 9-1 or 10-0 heading to Clemson.

Will Go 6-6 (3-5) if:
Kevin Steele can’t turn around the defense. Clemson and Texas A&M could be losses right out of the gate, then games at Virginia and Virginia Tech will be tricky with a season-ender against Pittsburgh. Anything can happen in a rivalry game with Florida State as evidenced by last year’s loss to the Noles. Certainly an upset can occur anywhere else too with a defense that hasn’t proven itself. Miami can no longer claim a culture of winning and has only one 10-win season since 2003.
