Let's take a look at the 2019 Georgia Tech football team.

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Virginia Tech | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina | Wake Forest

Georgia Tech
For the first time in over a decade, Paul Johnson won’t be roaming the sidelines in Atlanta. The triple option is history. Geoff Collins comes in and has rejuvenated the recruiting, but can he do enough to overhaul the offense in year one and get the Jackets to contend in the ACC Coastal?

Will Go 8-4 (5-3) if:
The change in offensive scheme takes quickly. The offense will likely still be fairly run heavy with all the RB’s on the roster, but who is going to throw the ball? Who is going to catch the ball? These are all big questions. The schedule is manageable, but no cakewalk in between Clemson and Georgia. The defense couldn’t pressure the QB last year, and is now inexperienced in the front 4. Georgia Tech must find someway to generate more QB pressure.

If Georgia Tech can get out of the gate 4-1 against Clemson, South Florida, The Citadel, at Temple, and UNC, then they have a chance to have a better than expected season.

Will Go 4-8 (3-5) if:
The offense struggles. The triple option masked some of the defensive issues GT had. If the offense has big problems transitioning, the season could fall apart quickly. Clemson and Georgia are near for sure losses. South Florida and Temple are no gimmes, and games at Miami and Virginia won’t be easy.

NC State is a difficult crossover game. That’s 7 losses right there. One more and it is a 4-8 season. Everything about Georgia Tech seems to be just a guess at this point except for the special teams and secondary which should be pretty good units. Geoff Collins would have done a great job if the Yellow Jackets make a bowl game.
