Let's take a look at FSU Football for the upcoming season.
Best / Worst Case Record for :
Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | SMU | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Virginia Tech | Cal | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina | Stanford| Wake Forest
Florida State
To say that Florida State had a nightmare 2025 season would be a massive understatement. The Florida State Seminoles were the worst team in the ACC. In a 17-team league, they were dead last in a 2-10 (1-7) year. This after being 13-1 (8-0), in a 2023 year that should have had them in the playoffs. 2-10 is unacceptable for any team, not just Florida State. How Head Coach Mike Norvell and the Noles do could determine if he’s FSU’s head coach in 2026.
Will Go 9-3 (6-2) if:
QB Tommy Castellanos can revitalize the Nole’s offense. FSU’s offense ranked a dreadful 132nd in the country. Castellanos is solid dual threat player, and that should really boost the Nole’s offense that neither could run or pass the ball. The defense was 87th in the country and struggled to stop any decent offense, especially in the 2nd half of last year. The transfer portal can revamp a team quickly, though, and after Alabama FSU should be able to match last year’s win total by game 3 with games against East Texas A&M, and Kent State. If FSU wins at Virginia, which I think might be their most pivotal game, they could get on a roll.
Will Go 5-7 (3-5) if:
There is a 2024 hangover. Florida State was so bad last year that they could actually be better by 3 games and still just be 5-7. FSU was bad on both sides of the ball, and if they aren’t considerably better, the schedule is a difficult one. Alabama, Miami, Clemson, and Florida would be sure losses. Toss-up games, like Virginia, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and NC State could be losses too. Norvell has been hit or miss in the portal, and if he’s misfired this year, it could be another long season.
