Duke
After 2 straight 9+ win seasons, if you are still thinking Duke hasn’t become a legitimate football program, then really all I can say is you don’t follow college football much. David Cutcliffe restoration of the Duke program has been simply remarkable. Now that Duke has established itself as a program on solid footing.  With a strong financial backing and facilities in place, it’s time to take the next step. For all of Duke’s progress there still isn’t a bowl win or significant out of conference victory. If Duke wants to be recognized nationally they have to starting winning these type games.

Will Go 10-2 (6-2) if:
If Duke takes advantage of a pillow soft schedule. There is no FSU, Clemson, or Louisville on the schedule. Georgia Tech and Miami come to Durham and the OOC games are Tulane, NC Central, Northwestern, and Army. It looks like Thomas Sirk will be the starting QB. He’s new, but who better to coach QB’s in the ACC than David Cutcliffe? Duke’s offensive line has become upper half ACC caliber, but the D-Line has had issues. There is young talent there, and if they come along Duke has a chance to be pretty good this year. The back 7 on defense should be solid, and special teams will be strong. Can they win the Coastal? I don’t see why not… They are in the mix for sure.

Will Go 7-5 (4-4) if:
7-5 is the worst I can see Duke going… Think about that for a moment. That would be a disappointment though if a couple of things go wrong. It’s hard to see Thomas Sirk struggling the whole season, but he is a new QB. If he comes out slow out of the gate, Northwestern could be tricky, and Georgia Tech could certainly be a problem early in the season. There are games at Virginia Tech and at UNC. Neither of which will be easy. Miami and Pitt are dangerous games as well. That D-Line is critical. I’m concerned if the young D-Line struggles, the Blue Devils will have big problems stopping the run.
