Barry Jacobs has penned a piece at ACCSports.com on the ACC's continuity among its basketball coaches.  It comes only a day after I posted a piece from AllSportsDiscussion.com on the greatness of coaching that will be in the ACC in 2014.

Here's a snippet from Jacobs' article.

The comment was not so much far-fetched as unexpected.

During the 2013 NCAAs a television commentator stated in passing that Rick Pitino, the Louisville coach, was the best practitioner of his craft in the college game. This was prior to the Cardinals’ capture of the NCAA title, making Pitino the only man to win national championships at two different schools. (He also won at Kentucky in 1996.)

The notion that Pitino is the game’s best doubtless came as something of a surprise in traditional ACC precincts, where Mike Krzyzewski’s achievements at Duke tower over everyone, even Dean Smith, the North Carolina great.

So, you're telling me the ACC coaches are great and they've been doing this a while?  That sounds great for the short term, but what does that mean for the conference in 10-15 years?  These big programs will to either hire from within or hire a proven commodity to take over these legendary programs.  It will be fascinating to see what it will do to these programs without these legends on the sidelines.  Should ACC fans be concerned about the future of basketball knowing that potentially 4 hall of famers will have to be replaced in the near future?
