ACC News & Notes

First, let me say what happened in Boston yesterday was senseless.  I try to remain quiet about these things since this is a sports website, but give me a moment.  Its hard to fathom the hate that has to be in someone to do this to innocent people.  It is encouraging on the other hand to see so many willing to help.  That is what I will focus on through all of this.  The media will show you heartbreaking images, but look past the blood and gore and find the people helping in these pictures.  More importantly, look to your own households and hug your loved ones a little tighter this morning.  I know I did.

Back to the purpose of this post though, let's go around the ACC and see what is going on.

  • First, news broke last night that Reggie Bullock is likely headed to the NBA.  Check out my article on Bullock here and one from TarHeelBlog.com here.
  • Paul Jesperson announced he would be transferring from Virginia.  Jesperson realized he was in a numbers crunch with a loaded Virginia roster.
  • With Robert Brown's recent transfer from Virginia Tech it left an open roster spot for the Hokies.  As such, the Hokies picked up a commitment from Devin Wilson on Monday.  Wilson is a 6-4, 180 lb guard from Pennsylvania who also had offers from West Virginia, George Mason, St. Joseph's, St. Bonaventure, and Western Michigan.
  • FSU held their award banquet on Monday and as you can imagine Michael Snaer was heavily featured.
  • News came out a few weeks ago that Ryan Kelly had surgery on the foot he injured during the season, just yesterday Seth Curry had surgery on the shin that plagued him all season long.  Curry should miss 10-12 weeks.
  • With Chris Collins recent departure to be the head coach Northwestern, Nate James stepped back into the assistant role that he had filled the season before.  That left a position open as the "special assistant to Coach K", and it should be no surprise that a former Blue Devil filled that position.  Jon Scheyer will return to Duke as a member of their staff.

As always, if I missed something that happened in the ACC, leave a comment for send me an email.
