ACC Sunday at the NCAA Tournament is upon us as today's Elite 8 games feature 4 ACC teams.
In the first quarterfinal, #1 Virginia takes on #10 Syracuse. The two teams faced off in late January with Virginia winning 73-65. In that one, Virginia shot lights out making 65% of 2's and 8-18 from long range, while also winning free throw rate by a wide margin. Turnover rates and rebounding percentages were quite close though. One thing that stands out is that Virginia isn't likely to capitalize on the defensive rebounding weakness of Syracuse.
In the late game, #1 UNC takes on #6 Notre Dame. This will be the third matchup of the year between the Heels and the Irish. Notre Dame won the first one 80-76, before getting obliterated in the second matchup by 31. In the first game, the Irish turned it over just twice compared to the 17 turnovers in their loss. As such, turnovers are a big factor to watch tonight.
