ACC Morning Linkfest 3/12/2016 with Game Sim Predictions

ACC Semifinal Friday didn't quite have the same suspense as the previous two days, but we saw two teams step it up to play on Saturday.

UNC manhandled Notre Dame from the tip to the final buzzer.  North Carolina beat Notre Dame 78-47, which is the largest margin of victory in an ACC Touranment Semifinal game.  In the other semifinal matchup, Virginia jumped out to a lead early and managed to hang on late.  As they have been all season, Virginia was extremely efficient on the offensive end led by ACC player of the year Malcolm Brogdon.

That gives us the matchup that Game Sim predicted earlier in the week.  Virginia and UNC match up pretty well so we should have a close one to watch tonight.  The two teams faced off in Charlottesville earlier this year and Virginia won 79-74.  Brogdon scored 26 points in that matchup and Brice Johnson was largely ineffective for the Heels scoring just 12 points.  One interesting number in that matchup was UNC taking 32% of their shots from 3 point range in that game, which was well above their 25% rate on the season.  UNC was quite effective making 9-19 from long range in that one, but the Heels can't afford to get "3 happy" tonight.  UNC also turned it over on 20% of possessions in that one and made just 7-13 free throw attempts.  All things considered, those numbers should be closer to their season averages on a neutral court.
