ACC Morning Linkfest 2/19 with Game Sim Predictions

After a day off from ACC basketball, we're back at it tonight with 4 ACC games.  Of course, 3 are at the same timeslot which I never quite understood.  I know TV plays a big deal in all of this but, how about spread out your games to maximize your exposure?  Its a pet peeve of mine, of course few people watch as much ACC basketball as I do anyway.  I'll let it go and instead look at tonight's matchups.

The marquee game of the night has Virginia travelling to Coral Gables to take on #2 Miami.  The Hurricanes somehow managed to win at Clemson, so it would seem unlikely that they would take UVA lightly.  Of course, if Miami isn't able to hit open jumpshots they become a much less dangerous team.  Trend or anomaly?  We should get a good idea tonight.  The thing about Virginia's recent play is that the Cavaliers have been scoring in bunches.  This isn't a Tony Bennett team that is constantly on a Quest for 50 like recent years.  One really interesting matchup to watch is Virginia's Jontel Evans guarding Miami's Shane Larkin.  Evans is quick enough to keep up with Larkin and Evans is the stronger of the two.  It's long been said that the way to beat someone is to cut the head off, curious to see if Evans can do that for the Virginia tonight.

NC State hosts FSU in the 7 o'clock game and the Wolfpack should win this one.  Good offfense for the Pack and bad defense for FSU should make it tough for an FSU upset.

Maryland goes to BC in what should be a good game.  The Terps are coming off their win over Duke, so Turgeon will have his hands full in getting his team up for this game.  Pe'Shon Howard will be back for Maryland, although maybe they don't exactly need him?

UNC travels to Georgia Tech as the Heels are playing some of their best offensive basketball of the season.  What will happen to UNC when a team like Georgia Tech makes it an ugly game?  Can UNC win ugly with this small lineup?  Georgia Tech likes to play 2 bigs, it will be curious to see if Bullock/Hairston can guard Holsey/Carter and vice versa.
